In Rabun County, Georgia in the small town of Mountain City is the Foxfire Museum and Heritage Center.  The Foxfire Magazine program was founded in 1966 as a way to motivate local high school English students to increase their interest in learning.  Their program of interviewing local residents covering topics from Appalachian history, to folklore, to traditional crafts and skills lead to the printing of the Foxfire books and magazines which stand as a tribute and record of the local traditions of Southern Appalachia.  The funding of this functional museum with over 20+ log structures from the Appalachian’s has been through the royalties from the Foxfire Books.
