Florida's East Coast Parks

The State of Florida has established and maintains over 160 state parks along the sea coasts and riverbanks, forests and prairies. These provide wonderful opportunities to explore historic forts and museums and to see the wildlife and landscapes of Old Florida. For me the East Coast begins at Fort Lauderdale and continues north to the east corner of the state ending at Fernandina Beach and Fort Clinch and including parks whether they are on the coast or inland.

    Fort Clinch State Park is located in Fernandina Beach on the northern tip of Amelia Island. The fort was built starting in 1847 and finished in 1867. The park has an extensive beach area and fishing pier on the Atlantic Ocean along with a beautiful native forest of Live Oaks.
