  • The Atlantic Shores Resort located on South Street in Key West was a famous destination for years until it was sold and demolished in 2007 to make way for a new motel.  It was most famous for its clothing optional pool and Sunday night Tea Dances.

  • In 1998, Don and Carolyn Jenkins from Illinois and their friends Don and Stephanie Manaher from Indiana decided they were done with the Midwest weather and bought the bar at the corner of Grinnell and Truman in Key West. They named it “Dons’ Place” after the two Dons and it quickly became a “Locals” favorite. It was named the Million Dollar Bar in reference to the reported purchase price. After all these years it has earned the distinction of being a true Key West Landmark. edit

  • This Landmark is actually just east of Key West on Sugarloaf Key.  It is a bat house over 30' tall built in 1929 by Richter Perky to be home for thousands of bats in hopes of controlling the local mosquito population.  But the bats never stayed, only the bat tower still remains.
