Hemingway Days

Ernest Hemingway lived in Key West from 1928 until 1940 at which time he moved to Cuba. When he wasn't writing or fishing or hunting, he was spending his time at his "other" office which was Sloppy Joe's Bar. Because of his being a famous writer with many "manly" escapades, his birthday is celebrated each year with several events with the annual "Look-a-Like" title being the most coveted of all.

The 2011 Hemingway Days celebration was held over the July 21-23 weekend with over 100 entries to the “Look-a-Like” contest. And one of the main events is the Key West rendition of the “Running of the Bulls” as is held yearly in Pamplona, Spain during their bull fighting festival which was so adored by Ernest Hemingway. Of course, do to the age of our entrants we have the “Riding of the Bulls” instead!
